Information on nursery, reception and in-year admissions.

Children starting in Reception

All new admissions to Pooles Park Primary are dealt with by us except children starting in Reception. If your child is between 4 and 5 years of age and wishes to start in Reception, please collect an admission form from LBI Admissions Department at 222 Upper Street, N1 1TH or go to www.islington.gov.uk/admissions to apply online. The closing date for Reception admissions is 15th January each year.

School open days for Reception admissions take place in October and will be displayed in our events section in September, once specific dates are confirmed.

Children starting in Nursery
or Years 1 – 6

Children who are approaching their 3rd birthday and wish to start nursery, or children aged 5-11 who wish to move to Pooles Park from another school, can collect an admission form directly from the school office or download the forms below.

More information about Nursery

Children are able to start school in September for the beginning of the school year if they have had their third birthday before the 31st August. It is advisable to apply as soon as possible for your child’s application, usually a minimum of at least one term before your child is due to start. We have a mixture of full time and part time places. Priority is given for full time places on the basis of age (it is more appropriate for older children to attend full time than younger, less experienced children), whether the child has siblings at the school and to children who are not attending another setting.

You will be advised by 1st July if your child has a place at Pooles Park. In addition to the information supplied here, parents/carers may find Islington Council’s website of interest www.islington.gov.uk/education. All school, LEA and National curriculum documents are available on request.
