At Pooles Park we offer an art and design curriculum designed to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.
As pupils progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. They should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
Our children are given a wide variety of materials and techniques in the early years, which they continue to develop and apply as they progress through the school.
In KS1 and KS2, children are encouraged to be creative, using a range of media and techniques so they can develop skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, textiles and printing. Children also develop their ideas through self-evaluation and group discussion.
Exposure to a wide range of diverse artists and the teaching of the critical skills needed to create and discuss art means that our students not only become artists in their lessons but also learn to be creative in life.
We are currently trailing Kapow Primary with the intention of following the scheme from September 2022.
