At Pooles Park, children are primarily taught Spanish. Lessons use a range of text book and online resources to promote enjoyment, ensure authenticity and support confidence and participation.
Our intention is for Pooles Park children to gain and develop an appreciation and respect of languages and cultures from around the world, fostering a positive attitude towards the benefits of mastering a new language and having fairer choices in their futures.
Our ambition is to ensure children will have gained knowledge and understanding of acquiring a new language and have experienced speaking, listening, reading and writing in Spanish through a variety of experiences which will support transition to learning languages in secondary school. We use Language Angels to teach Spanish in an enjoyable and stimulating way. We endeavour to integrate a variety of different languages including French and Italian, as well as linking knowledge of Ancient Greek and Latin root words to support understanding of language and widening vocabulary across the curriculum.
