Science throughout the school aims to allow children a hands on approach to science learning. This is underpinned with a clear understanding of scientific vocabulary and how to use it. Children are also encouraged to ask lots of questions, understanding that they might not have answers straight away.
Science at Pooles Park aims to inspire children to develop a lifelong curiosity in the sciences. Children work scientifically throughout the school in classroom environments that encourage them to ask questions about the world around them and to learn how to investigate these inquiries. These working scientifically skills are supported by the development of a wide range of scientific vocabulary that is central to science learning at Pooles Park. Children enjoy applying this language and knowledge across our broad curriculum as they progress through our school.
As their scientific knowledge broadens, children connect their knowledge and start to make predictions about what may happen in different situations, drawing upon their previous learning. As they progress through the school, children will develop independent skills to be able to plan and carry out investigations to answer their own questions.
