One of the biggest changes to UK data protection law came into effect on 25th May 2018. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) became part of UK law, replacing and building on the 1998 Data Protection Act. This was a step towards you having more control over how your data and your child’s data is used and how you’re contacted. The changes will also better protect your personal data and are applicable to all organisations in the UK including schools.
Pooles Park Primary School takes its Data Protection responsibilities very seriously. To prepare for these changes we have:
We have produced an information booklet to provide further detailed information and gather appropriate consent for school, which must be done annually. This booklet will be sent home with your child must be completed and returned to the school. Parent workshops will be arranged to assist any parents who require help in completing this.
The school has a Data Protection Officer, Ms Auld, and you can email admin@poolespark.islington.sch.uk with any questions about Data Protection at the school.
