01 Sep Letter from the Headteacher
Dear Parents
I hope you have enjoyed the summer. I am looking forward to welcoming you all back tomorrow. The gates will continue to open at 8.45 and will close promptly at 9. The end of the day will now be at 3.30pm for all pupils except for Nursery and Reception. Nursery and Reception will go back to finishing at 3.20pm. We will continue to finish early on a Friday for home learning. This provides time for children to engage in online learning and practice the skills that they learnt during the lockdown periods. The school will remain open for any parent that requires provision on a Friday afternoon. These children will engage in the same online learning activities as those who are at home.
Covid
Following government guidance we are aiming to be as normal as possible. However, It is important to remember that the virus is still around and in far greater numbers than last September. Therefore, the school will retain some measures to reduce the chance of viral transmission. Please continue to wear a mask when on the school site if you can.
Social Distancing
There will be an end to bubbles. There is now no need for your child to isolate if they are a close contact of a covid case. We will continue to avoid large gatherings such as assemblies. Whole school assemblies will still take place online in the classrooms.
Hygiene
The school will continue to insist on frequent handwashing on arrival at school, during the day and just before going home. This is not just a Covid measure. There are many other illnesses which are far more transmissible than Covid. The norovirus and chicken pox for example. Good hygiene is a significant way of limiting the spread of these illnesses.
Ventilation
Fresh air is one of the best things for children’s general health. Good ventilation has a significant effect on limiting the spread of Covid. Classroom windows will be open even in colder weather. Please make sure your child wears appropriate uniform, including a school jumper.
We look forward to working with you to support your child’s learning.
